I'm nursing sore knuckles after a killer workout with former boxing pro Lonnie Davis at Kingsway boxing gym. The air conditioner was broken, so it was hot and stinky. After four rounds of pad work, I nearly fainted. Still, can't wait to go back on Monday!

    Fire Island BFFs

Went to Fire Island last weekend. Hadn't been there for so long.  Even though it's only 90 minutes from New York, after the train and the ferry ride, you really feel transported.  Lyla and Zoe had so much fun hula hooping and burying each other in the sand.  So nice to have the quaint little walkways and no cars on the island.  A great start to the summer.

    Lyla In Missouri

On a recent trip to Missouri, I took these shots of Lyla doing cartwheels in a historic town called St. Charles, which is a half hour drive outside of St. Louis. My intern, Jonathan Katz, created this montage from four pictures I took. It was for his senior project.

This Land Is Your Land By Danielia Cotton & Kids

Lyla learned to sing This Land Is Your Land in school and I caught her humming it at home a few weeks ago, which inspired me to invite her classmates to sing the song on video. I mentioned my idea to Danielia and she agreed to sing on camera with the kids. The kids didn't rehearse and not everyone knew the song, but they all gave it a try and had fun anyway. I shot the video with a Canon 5D Mark 11. The wonderful photographer Jon Brown was my assistant for the day and Ryan Stansky, who's like a little Einstein, did the editing in record time. Although the video isn't perfect, I learned some things along the way and loved the experience from start to finish.

    Bar Suzette's New Home

I stumbled across Bar Suzette at Chelsea Market last Saturday. I'd met the owners in October when they were set up by Madison Square Park for the Mad. Sq. Mark't. Though there were many food vendors, these guys' wonderful crepes made their stand my favorite by far. At the time, they mentioned they were looking for a permanent place in the neighborhood to open full-time, so it was such a nice surprise to find them again! What a great addition they make to Chelsea Market. And FYI, their smoked salmon crepe is out of this world.
